“I don’t have many days left. “You have to jump in first.”

Ninety-four. Everyone said that I was not at an age suitable for challenges. But ‘Grandma Joy’ was different. Last year, she made headlines by visiting all 63 national parks in the United States as the oldest person ever, and this time she set out on a trip around the world. She said this, enjoying a pleasure she had never felt in her ninety years.

According to CNN on the 7th (local time), Joy Ryan (94), also known as ‘Grandma Joy’, is traveling around the world with her grandson Brad Ryan (42). It started in 2015. Brad, who had not seen her grandmother for a while due to her parents’ divorce, said she decided to make the trip after talking to her grandmother, whom she had not seen in a while. Because her grandmother’s words that she had never actually seen the high mountain in her life remained in her heart.

“The thing my grandmother regretted most was never having gone on a trip,” Brad said. “The only trip my grandmother ever took was a few drives to nearby Florida with my grandfather before he passed away. “The world her grandmother saw was all she saw on the news or travel channels.”

The first trip was to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which spans North Carolina and Tennessee. Brad, tired of his studies, planned a trip here and invited his grandmother to accompany him. That’s how Grandma Joy’s first trip began. It was a new life that started at the age of 85. Before long, she had decided to travel to all 63 national parks in the United States.

It was last year that the two completed their ‘mission’. Grandma Joy achieved something that others could not easily accomplish even if they took on a lifetime of challenges, eight years after her first trip. Brad also created an Instagram account called ‘Grandma Joy’s Road Trip’ and shared this process. Netizens also sent enthusiastic support and cheers to Grandma Joy.

Grandma Joy and Brad’s challenge is currently ongoing. The new goal is to visit all seven continents around the world, including Asia, Africa, Europe, Antarctica, and Oceania. For this purpose, Grandma Joy was issued her first passport in her life in 2022. Until last year she had visited Canada and Kenya, and this year she went to Ecuador and Chile.

I am leaving for Australia at the end of this year. The final destination is Antarctica. Grandma Joy said, “The trip to the national park was a long journey. But I enjoyed everything. “I met a lot of great people while traveling,” he said. “I don’t have much time left, so I have to jump in first. “If you slow down, you can’t do anything,” she said.
