Miku is Miku Miku even in dungeons | Webzine Inven – Inven VRESP

‘Crypt of the Necrodancer’, a rhythm rogue-lite where you can’t even clear the dungeon if you don’t get the timing right, is adding Miku as DLC 9 years after its release.

Brace Yourself Games released a new DLC, Hatsune Miku Character DLC, on the 5th and began official sales. Miku in the game is implemented with pixel art that perfectly fits the game, but sings in the dungeon while maintaining her unique outfit and hairstyle.

As Hatsune Miku’s strengths are singing and dancing, the play style is also implemented somewhat differently than before. Miku doesn’t have a shovel, but instead carries a green onion and rushes through enemies. In addition to moving to the rhythm, she further emphasized the importance of positioning, taking advantage of Miku’s characteristics as a musician.

As various Vocaloid original songs were introduced as Miku, various songs were included in this game as well. As the game utilizes the characteristics of the rhythm action genre in a dungeon crawler, players must move to the beat using Miku’s song as the background and enemies as notes. In addition, to commemorate the collaboration for this DLC, Danny Baranowski, who composed the entire Crypt of the Necromancer soundtrack, created two soundtracks.

Crypt of the NecroDancer is a rogue-lite game where you collect items and defeat bosses in a variety of dungeons. Adding to this the rhythm action element where you have to move and attack enemies to endless background music, it received great attention and positive reviews. The unique gameplay caught the attention of Nintendo and added story and elements from The Legend of Zelda, creating ‘Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the Necrodancer feat. It was also expanded into a game called ‘The Legend of Zelda’.

This DLC is sold for 2,300 won through Steam, and a 10% discount to commemorate its release is applied until the 12th.

Developer Brace Yourself Games had a difficult time last year due to financial difficulties, putting on hold the development of major projects and laying off 50% of its employees. However, following this DLC, preparations for a new work are continuing by developing the sequel to Crypt of the Necrodancer, ‘Lift of the Necromancer’.
