Microsoft fixes VPN vulnerabilities with April Windows update – DailySecure VRESP

Microsoft has fixed a known vulnerability that could cause VPN connections to drop on client and server platforms after installing the April 2024 Windows security update.

The list of affected Windows versions includes Windows 11, Windows 10, and Windows Server 2008 and later.

Microsoft did not provide a root cause for the VPN vulnerability, but recommended that home users use the Windows Get Help app and that small, medium-sized and large enterprise customers contact the company through its dedicated ‘Support for Business’ portal if they need support.

Two weeks after first becoming aware of the issue, Microsoft fixed this known vulnerability in a Windows cumulative update released during the May 2024 Patch Tuesday period.

The full list of affected Windows versions and cumulative updates that fix VPN errors is as follows:

-Client: Windows 11 22H2/23H2 (KB5037771), Windows 11 21H2 (KB5037770), Windows 10 (KB5037768).

-서버: Windows Server 2022(KB5037782), Windows Server 2019(KB5037765), Windows Server 2016(KB5037763), Windows Server 2012 R2(KB5037823), Windows Server 2012(KB5037778), Windows Server 2008 R2(KB5037780), Windows Server 2008 SP2(KB5037800).

Administrators who are unable to immediately install this month’s Patch Tuesday update can temporarily resolve their VPN issues by uninstalling the problematic April cumulative update.
