Western Digital launches 8TB external SSD ‘SanDisk Desk Drive’ – IT Daily VRESP

(IT Daily) Western Digital announced on the 8th that it will strengthen its SanDisk portfolio by introducing the ‘SanDisk Desk Drive’, which provides 8TB, the largest capacity among its external desktop SSDs.

This new drive supports the performance and reliability of SSDs and provides content creators and professionals with a simple solution that allows them to easily back up and quickly utilize high-resolution photos, videos, and files in one place.

Today, an increasing number of people are producing vast amounts of content, from photography and video experts to IT device enthusiasts. With this new product, Western Digital plans to support the needs of digital creators who need flexible, high-capacity storage solutions to perform more tasks quickly.

The newly released SanDisk desk drive supports 4TB and 8TB large capacities to manage massive data such as photos and video materials, CAD and 3D rendering files, large AI-generated files, music libraries, and important documents.

It supports a maximum read speed of 1,000MB/s, up to 4 times faster than a desktop HDD, allowing you to utilize huge files such as 8K video more quickly. You can quickly back up photos, videos, and other files at SSD speed through Apple Time Machine, and automatic backup is also possible by using the built-in Western Digital backup software ‘Acronis True Image’. Compatibility is also an advantage. It is provided in exFAT format and can be used on Windows and Mac OS immediately after purchase.

It is a winner of the ‘2024 Red Dot Design Award’ with a compact and sophisticated design, enabling efficient use of desk space and providing a natural feel not only at home but also in a professional work environment.

SanDisk desk drives come with a 3-year limited warranty. SanDisk Desk Drive 4TB and 8TB models are currently released and can be purchased at online shopping malls such as Naver, Coupang, 11th Street, G Market, and Auction. It is also scheduled to be introduced at Electromart in May. The recommended domestic consumer price is KRW 770,000 for 4TB and KRW 1,430,000 for 8TB, depending on capacity.
